Virtual Presentation: The Reggio Emilia Approach

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, this two hour session will provide you an introduction to how the Reggio Emilia Approach is used as an inspiration in a number of child care centers here in Manitoba. It is a child centered and constructivist pedagogical approach from a small town in Italy (Reggio Emilia) .

This session will include:

  • Questions to reflect on current beliefs, values and practices.
  • Your view of children as learners.
  • Why current research on brain development and the whole child supports the principals in the Reggio Emilia approach.

Gerrie will share beginning steps that we have taken to reflect on and start when articulating our own curriculum values and approaches.

You will leave this session with inspiration and excitement to support children’s learning experiences. We hope you will gain an understanding of the importance of early childhood development that shapes and scaffolds a child’s journey in life.
