Presentation: Finding a Roadmap for Supporting Adults with Intellectual Disability and Dementia

This presentation will introduce the “Canadian Guide for Community Care and Supports for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities Affected by Dementia”, a resource produced with funds from PHAC – Dementia Strategy Fund. Attendees will get a chance to see how the guide is laid out to help people learn about the changes that happen for adults with an intellectual disability when they have dementia and to plan for quality supports and services. Short case studies will be used to show how to use the guide. Part of the funding for the project also included creating some additional resources for families, people with lived experience and staff so that they could have a better understanding of some of the information in the guide. A quick look at those resources will be included in the presentation.
